Adult Education Budget

“The confirmation that we have received a portion of the Adult Education Budget is exciting news for the business; we are looking into how this money can be best used to benefit people in Hull and East Riding.”Katrina Anderson, Employability & Skills Manager

The Adult Education Budget (AEB) enables adults to achieve qualifications, as well as tailored programmes of learning (which do not need to include a qualification), to help those furthest from learning or employment. Its principle purpose is to engage these people and provide them with the skills needed for work or further learning. It currently funds three groups:

  • 19 to 23
  • 24+ who are unemployed
  • 24+ other
  • All candidates must meed residency requirements to be eligible for Government funding; individuals are eligible for funding if the learning is taking place in England, and they are a citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA), or other countries determined within the EEA, or if they have been a resident in one of these countries for the previous three years. Any non EEA citizens may be eligible for funding if they have permission granted by the UK Government to live in the UK, not for educational purposes, and have been a resident of the UK for the previous three years.
